This is a fundamental lesson: loyalty can become a liability. I was struck by a post that emphasized this point.
Sometimes we overlook simple warning signs, dismissing them or sweeping them aside. Scripture clearly warns against misplaced loyalty—whether toward toxic companions, misguided leaders, or untrustworthy business partners—as these can cause spiritual and personal harm.
Proverbs 13:20 makes it clear that walking with fools leads to harm; verse 10 highlights that pride inevitably causes strife.
We often tolerate behaviors that hurt us or discourage us, simply because we allow certain people into our lives.
Micah 7:5 advises caution, reminding us that even close human allegiances can deteriorate. Matthew 6:24 underscores that no one can serve two masters; divided loyalty undermines integrity.
We tend to believe we can fix others’ problems at the expense of our own spiritual walk. Proverbs 4:23 urges us to guard our heart with all diligence.
